Just got my new Wordpress Plugin, looks excellent so far, will there be a helpfile? I have it setup and installed and that went ok, now I am only stuck on what URL they are looking for exactly.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
Yes there will be a help file but not until I actually download
and play with the plug-in.

Sounds promising. Installed it. Can't see any way to use it.
No instructions included it seems.
Can't see any reference to the plugin in any of my delavo menus.
Where can I figure out how it works?

Normally installing a plugin is as easy as uploading it, BINARY mode,
into your /specfeats/ directory. Logout and login back to your Delavo
and presto the new plugin should show up.

Andre - I'm having the same problem. It's not an installation question - it's an operational question.
I have uploaded the file, yes - in binary mode - to the /specfeats/ directory, logged back in and see no sign of the plugin. Also since it doesn't come with a help file, readme.txt or any documentation at all, I have no idea what it's supposed to do, and how.
Could be the other guys are having the same problem.
I've had a ticket in with support, but so far, no reply.
I'm feeling like the product was offered for sale before it was ready. Wondering if i should just return it and try again in a month or two?

Hi Guys,
You need to look in Store/3rd Party Scripts and add a new Wordpress connection to your blog from there.
It does work, I already tested it with a couple of my blogs.
From my understanding the installation videos will be available in July.

Thanks for the plugin installation demo video :)
As Brian stated so gently, indeed you should find the plugin
in your Store/3rd Party Scripts.
The new plugins are out due to strong demand actually, and
be certain that doc and videos are coming out shortly.

I totally agree with you Lou. Why release a product if you don't even have the simpliest instructions how to use it, I guess getting the money is more important than looking after the customer

Please behave yourself here.
It has been CLEARLY stated at http://use-sell.com/2/1512588ql/order
that the plugins have been released because many people asked for
them. The page also says that instructional videos will be offered
AFTER JULY 1.
This is your second comment that no installation instructions are offered.
I attach the thank you page of your order.
Can you spot the "simple" instructions now?
Again, please behave yourself here.

Thanks Brian - I actually had looked at the 3rd part scripts menu and didn't think to "add new"! I'm still not sure about the transaction flow, but at least I've got a starting point now to experiment a bit.
@andre - i totally understand about the demand but hey, even a quick readme.txt or jing-style video would be easy to do. mere minutes. :) Anyway, I'll look forward to the full documentation/videos.
@lee - I would definitely have liked the docs, but after years of being a turbo member and knowing John and the team - some personally - I would not think their motivation was "take the money and forget the customer satisfaction". It's not their style, and if it sounded like I was saying that - I apologize: I wasn't. I just think in this case it may have been rushed because so many people wanted it asap - and yes, prematurely. With all the hi quailty and hi value products that John and the team have consistenly put out over the years, and the sheer volume of it, I'm willing to forgive them this little oversight - just because I believe their hearts ARE in the right place. Hey we all make mistakes sometime, right?

I tried initializing the WP Plugin in the 3rd party scripts and got an error message that it didn't recognize the database access info (localhost, dbname, username, pw). Seems like it was looking locally. Is that right? Does the WP blog have to reside on the same domain as Delavo? [RESOLVED]
Update: I added my domain to the "external mysql db" list and that seemed to connect. But I'm now getting "* Configuration error: [error.tables_not_found] " error. Suggestions anyone? [RESOLVED]
Update 2: Ok, found the problem. Had to specify "wp_" as the table prefix. Apparently I'm connected error free now ... so time to see if it'll connect with WPWishlist. :) [RESOLVED]
Current Status: ok, almost there ... users and passwords are being added to the blog. Now ... how/where do i specify the wpwishlist membership level in the delavo parameters? "assign user role" parameter doesn't seem to work. Especially important when (as in my case), user may choose to buy different levels of memberships (e.g. bronze, silver, gold).

Hey Brian -- did you use WPWishlist with your Wordpress blog? How'd you set the member level from Delavo? I've got the plugin processing the order and setting up the user record in WP, but I have to in manually to assign the WPWishlist membership level ... or at least that's the only way I've been able to figure it out so far. Thanks in advance.

Brian -- I hear you, but let me share this with you...
I've been using wpwishlist since they were in beta and have been totally won over. It's a well crafted product and does so many things well, it's tought to beat.
Most of all, I find comfort in having my user management/ecommerce system paid for so I get real support. It's too critical to the memberships. A single domain license is only $97, for which I get access to a top-notch and responsive support team. Totally worth it as far as I'm concerned, and paid for by a single member in the first month.
Thanks for your input on this, btw - much appreciated.

Hi Lou,
I still have not got round to getting Wishlist - not sure that I will as I use so many other membership solutions.
The only place I can see you having a problem with is the subscriber level - this has to be a level that is within your WP blog - I don't know if Wishlist creates new ones but the current choices will be shown inside your blog under Users - have a look at the drop down box for changing a user role for a list.
I have successfully set up two blogs on remote hosts with the level of subscriber.

Can anyone tell where to do this:

I can't find it anywhere.
Also, I am having a lot of trouble getting the 3rd party plugins to work - what URL format are you supposed to be using?
Thanks,

Hi Russ,
You only need to add your domain to the external mysql list if the plugin you are trying to get to work is on another server (this is in your cPanel Remote Database settings).
The correct format is http://yourdomain.com for local connections if it is a URL - localhost if it is a db connection or 123.123.123.123 if it is a remote connection.

Hey Brian,
Thanks. I am afraid that I don't know which format I need to use.
My hosting is shared but the url for the delavo install (including wp plugin) is http://175.... while the url for the wordpress site that I want to protect is http://75...
Can enlighten me as to what I put in the URL area?
The only other question is the password - is that the same password I used to set up the blog when I did the Fantastico one-click wp install?
Thanks, I appreciate the help. BTW - I don't know what external mysql list is so if you could help with that that would be great.

Please note:
This does not constitute official documentation and in fact you have to keep a very close eye on any remote database connection methods using an i.p. address as hosting account i.p. addresses do change on occasion.
I cannot be held liable for this method not working for you in the future.

Up to you - if you want the whole blog protected use a remote membership.
I'm not sure how that will impact posting from Delavo to the blog though

Hi guys - i still don't know how to integrate delavo with Wishlist Member - what's the flow through the transaction process? If I process the transaction through delavo, then Wishlist doesn't apply the membership level. If I process through Wishlist Member, then Delavo doesn't access the user tables (or does it..).
The install video is helpful, but is there a manual or a video that will step me through how to sell a member site using delavo/wishlist, and manage the users from joining through to cancellation of their membership?
Has anyone successfully integrated Delavo/WordpressPlugin/WishlistMember yet? Care to share how?

Hi All,
I got access to someone's Wishlist today to solve the problems that are being experienced.
In the 3rd Party Script setup be sure to use the Worpress subscriber level NOT the Wishlist subscriber level.
In the external membership that you setup to use this 3rd Party entry - use the Wishlist subscriber level that you defined in Wishlist.
If you need multiple levels of access for Worpress (author etc.) setup a new 3rd party connection and a new membership for the different levels.

That sounds a little messy to me, hopefully this is something that can be resolved within the plugin to handle multiple levers. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Lou!
I've been using Delavo and WishList together in many of my sites.
You just have to create a new 3rd-party script integration (as shown by Brian) so Delavo speaks with Wordpress and it creates a new user in Wordpress with the same user/pass as Delavo..
Then create an EXTERNAL membership so Delavo knows what membership level in WishList are you selling so it creates a new membership level attached to that customer's account in Wordpress.
I'm having a problem lately though as I use a lot of WP sites in my Delavo so...
One error:
It's in Wordpress:
http://content.screencast.com/users/iandelcarmen/folders/Jing/media/f140e3ea-d119-48f4-885f-98d8ff8185dc/00000109.png
In External Memberships:

Still waiting for support...

To summarize: once you create 3rd-party script record for Wordpress in Delavo, you get an option to create WordPress External Membership in Store->Memberships.

Hi,
Hopefully somebody here can help me. I'm having trouble getting the third party script plugin to connect to my WordPress DB.
I've entered all the details in the Delavo screen titled: "Integration with 3rd-party scripts: adding new record" ...I'm 100% certain the details are correct because I've tested them with a Desktop MySQL Client and it connects perfectly using the settings I'm entering in Delavo.
The only thing I think could be the issue is that I have the wrong I.P in the "Remote Database Access Hosts" in Cpanel for the WP domain. However, I've tried everything I can think of, the domain.com version and every IP available at my Delavo's VPS.
The error I see every time I try to attempt to save the connetion settings in Delavo is:
* Configuration error: Failed to connect to the DB: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'my.ip.is.here' (110)
(I've hidden my IP above)
Now, my WP is on a domain at HostGator and I see they say that remote MySQL connections need to go through port 3306 - Does Delavo use this port when trying to connect? Maybe this is the issue? I see at the end of the Delavo connection error is: "(110)" - Is this a port it's trying to use?
---
Also, while I'm here, I'm trying to use WishList with WP here. I see in the third party scripts Delvo setup screen for WP there is a checkbox:
"Use WishList Memberships (if unchecked, Turbo WP Memberships are used)"
This checkbox is just below the "Assign user role - EXAMPLE: subscriber" entry box.
If I want to assign a user to a specific WishList member level am I right in saying I check this checkbox and enter the WishList member level name in the "Assign user role" entry box? Or does this entry box have to be one of the standard WP roles?
Thanks in advance for any help with this. I'm off on holiday on the 3rd so if anyone can provide help before then it would be a massive help. Thanks! :)
Kind regards,
Mike

Hi Mike, are both Delavo and WP on the same server? Chances are yes but just wanted to ask. Usually when on the same server, I've found using localhost does the trick :) it could very well be a port issue but try using localhost first.

This one depends.
Do you use a plugin that creates new user roles? In my tests using User Role Editor plugin to create new roles, both Delavo and Wishlist will pick up on the new roles.
In either case whether you have custom created roles or using WP standard roles, whatever you select here must match what you use in Wishlist.
Hope that clarifies things.

Thanks for the help Bnylus, much appreciated.
I ended up giving up with trying to get a remote connection with the WP database from Delavo. After moving the WP domain to the same server as the Delavo install, and using localhost, it works perfectly. To be honest, it feels a little more solid having both on the same server - less room for DB connection errors.
To get users signed up under the correct WishList Member Membership Level I simply followed Ian del Carmen's instructions in an earlier post in this thread - which was using External memberships as well as the third party account creation in the sale of a product. This appears to work well.
Thanks again,
Mike
