"This product is an upgrade to another product" - how does this new feature work?

Does anyone know how the new feature below works? It's a new update in v2.8.

"This product is an upgrade to another product"

This option appears on the product details page.

I have to say, I like the frequent new updates and features being added to Delavo but without the same happening to the manuals/videos it really is frustrating...

If there is anyone in the know (JD??...) what's the deal with the manuals? Will they be updated any time soon to reflect all the changes happening?

I have not written any "Official" manuals since Nov. 2009 so there will be
no new or updated manuals available through Delavo.com, at least at the
present time.

However, I do write "unofficial" manuals and sell them.

Hi Donna, yeah I remember reading that from you in other threads.

I'm not pointing a finger at you or anything, it's just my main concern is who is now actually writing manuals for Delavo? I don't understand why JD would sell a complex product like Delavo without keeping manuals up to date? It's a looong time since they were updated. Just all seems kinda odd to me unless we are actually still in the development phase? What is JD & MJ up to with Delavo? Not heard from either of them about it for quite a while now.

Well, Delavo is no longer managed by John 100%. And
no one is writing any "official" manuals at the present
time.

However, I am negotiating with the "Powers That Be"
to again write the "official" manuals for Delavo for the
Gold membership level only.

So, hopefully manuals will be offered in the future if an
agreement can be reached.

In the meantime, anyone that is interested in
updated manuals can PM me as at the current time,
I do sell them.

Here is what the Upgrade Product is straight from the programmer!

It allows to set level of a product like "Silver Membership", "Gold
Membership". So if a person is subscribed to "Silver Membership" and
wants to upgrade to "Gold Membership", then s/he orders "Gold
Membership" product, but at this point admin may want to stop the "Silver
membership" and cancel the related subscription for that customer, so to
avoid double billing. The "upgrade" feature allows for that. Basically, if
product B is set up as an upgrade to product A, then if a customer buys
product B, then the membership/subscription for product A for him is
cancelled, if any.
