You can see hosting requirements here:

http://delavo.com/news/faq/

Since there are so many hosting plans available from many hosting companies,
it would be better to check with who you are hosted with.

Login to your control panel and it should tell you what flavor of php, perl, and
mysql you are using. You would probably have to check their faq's to see if
mod_rewrite and Crypt::SSLeay are supported.

If you can't find it in the faq's, then shoot an email to their support center
and ask if the tech specs for delavo are supported in their hosting.

ok i got hosting company to add the required files:

Perl 5.6 or later
* mod_rewrite
* Crypt::SSLeay
MySQL 4.0 or later
DBI module

and they turned on zend also.

but, when i install, and it installs successfully, it still shows 403 forbidden when i go to login.

think what im missing is mod rewrite..how do i add it? i see no .htaccess files. getting to anxious to get this going now im almost there..:)

Some hosting companies don't allow you to see .htaccess. I don't
really know why. You might check into the faq's as well to see if
your host does allow this.

When I installed Delavo where I wanted on my host, it does include
an .htaccess file there. I would also look to see if their mod-rewrite
rules differ any from common rules as in RewriteEngine On and how
the rules are written.

I think I read somewhere that 1and1 does theirs a little diff. I am
not any type of expert on hosting, only offering my knowledge of
what I know on this subject. This might not be the case, but I do
know that some hosts don't allow you to see the .htaccess file.

Check where you installed Delavo at (eg when you installed you
might have replaced Delavo with another name).

Here are some basic troubleshooting tips:

1. Make sure the install went into the correct directory.

If you are installing into the primary domain then it should be under the directory you specified during install (i.e. public_html/2/)
If you installed into an add-on domain then it will be in the directory you specified under the add-on domains directory (i.e. public_html/myaddondomain/2)

2. make sure the directory (i.e. 2/) has the permissions of 755
3. If you cant find the .htaccess file it can be located in the delavo-install.zip file, unzip it to you computer and ftp it to your Delavo installed directory (i.e. public_html/2/) and has the permissions set to 666

I hope this helps,
Harry

If I read your initial post correctly you have installed Delavo into the root of public_html and not a subdirectory?

If that is the case the .htaccess file may have already existed prior to install and the install did not overwrite the file.

I would compare the .htaccess file that came in the zip file with that on the server under public_html

they could be different.
or...

rename the current .htaccess file on public_html to something like .htaccess-save and ftp the one from the .zip again to make sure.

Harry

The best thing to do, since you are beyond the download process, is
to open a ticket. The issue now is on your hosting, or intallation, not
the downloading of the product.

Go to http://help.use-sell.com/ and open a ticket. You will probably
need to give specific info to support as where you installed, license
number and url - all that good stuff, and also to allow support to log
into your FTP to check out what's going on with installation, I would
pass along that info as well. That's the only way for them to get in
there and see what is up.

Glad that you got the software though : )

I haven't been able to download mine yet but was wondering if the install challenge is because your host is using phpsuexec instead of the "old school" htaccess. This can cause grief (or should I say, "A further challenge" on many installations that are set to use htaccess).

Submit a support ticket and ask about phpsuexec and installing.

If I recall the challenge seems to be at Hostgator? If so, here is their support post on phpsuexec (http://forums.hostgator.com/phpsuexec-being-installed-existing-servers-tips-t8822.html?s=19dc9ede4d15075f62e7aaf0e64e790b&t=88 22).

I have the same error:

Forbidden
You do not have permission to access / delavo / auth / login.html on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

My host is hostgator and I installed it in the principal root : main public_html / delavo

The htacces is set to 755.

my .htaccess is set to 666. i contacted hostgator to fix error. it was a mod security issue they had to resolve.
