My domain is hosted as Linux-shared on a TheInternetCompany server. I have uploaded the 3 Delavo installation files to the root and have created the MySQL database. When I attempt to run http://[domain]/delavo-install.cgi, instead of the script running, the text of the script is displayed. What does this indicate? What am I missing? Should I contact the host company?

Hi Linwood,

Did you change the permissions of install.cgi to 755 ?

Note: you should delete these files once you have successfully installed.

Yes, I did that. - I think I had best contact the host provider. I suspect that whatever shell is supposed to run the script is missing.

Okay, here's the scoop. I purchased the package deal from John's service TheInternetCompany.ws wherein you get free (Economy) hosting ($72/yr value) with the purchase of a domain name for just $10/yr. Not a bad deal. However, I made the unwarranted assumption that anything from John's company would support Delavo. It turns out that Economy Hosting does not support CGI. To run Delavo, I would have to upgrade to Deluxe Hosting at $10.95/mo. That's not a bad price, but it kind of defeats the value of the package deal. Additionally, I can get hosting elsewhere for less, which I have now chosen to do.

Hi Linwood,

My recommendation would be to upgrade your existing package on John's hosting but of course you are free to make any choice you think is best.
