Hi I was just wondering if anyone has had this issue or a suggestion, I set up some large file downloads in my delavo that link to files on a different server, created a product and a package, etc.

It was reported to me that when downloading the 125mb file from the product checkout page with the link created from Delavo, it only downloads a portion of the file (32mb in this instance) and then stops.

I also tested this and found it to be true when I tried to download from my checkout page for that product (my first attempt the download stopped at about 8mb)

Just to confirm I did also try a direct download from my file server (Dreamhost) and then also tested that same download from my Amazon S3 cloudfront. When I download DIRECTLY from those locations I AM ABLE to complete the full download both times.

To double check I then changed the download file link in my Delavo product to point to the file on my Amazon S3, went through the checkout process again, and again when downloading from the Delavo checkout link it stops at about 53mb.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Could this be an issue with the link created by Delavo, or the server hosting my Delavo (Hostgator) timing out the connection between link and the download paths?

Thanks!

Hi Nathan,

Possibly what is happening is that the Delavo host is transferring the download from your other server to the local host first (like you I use a variety of servers for delivering downloads).

I would suggest examining your server logs on your Delavo host to see if there are any problems appearing there and check your Hostgator space available and terms of download limits.

If that does not get you the results you need, consider splitting the single download into several to get over the problem.

Although my Master Delavo is not hosted with Hostgator, I can assure you that 100mb+ downloads are not a problem using an encrypted link to a remote server (this is how I do this and always test purchase through Delavo to the download).

Another possible solution would be to create a "protected membership" on the remote host with links to downloads directly from the remote server (i.e. the customer would actually transfer to the domain where the download is hosted).

All my sites are on DreamHost (over 30 GB). I have never had a problem with large files (one of over 300MG and others around 200).

After contacting HostGator I found out the memory needed to be increased in the php.ini file. It was timing out download.
