Error upgrading to 1.2

I am getting an odd error upgrading to 1.2

Here is the message:

DIED: failed to read go/.htaccess: No such file or directory at delavo.cgi line 667.

delavo.cgi:667 main::__ANON__
delavo.cgi:956 main::actionDataModify


What is happening on the server is the .htaccess file is being completely deleted. After the deletion, I can no longer access my Delavo install either, until I restore an .htaccess file from a previous backup.

I'm following the documented steps in this forum to the letter. I'm really about out of ideas. Any thoughts?

This unfortunately is not normal behaviour and it is the first time I have seen this, a ticket to the help desk would be my advice.
