I am able to set up mySQL databases through my hosting platform.

Thanks

Hi Pete,

It is not a necessity, just probably the most common Control Panel.

I do tend to stick with cPanel from a familiarity point of view though.

so I should be able to get the job done on my host's (hostgator, etc...) control panel?

Yes Pete,

All you need to do through the control panel is to setup a mySQL database - a CRON and upload the installation files - the rest is done through your browser.

Please note that the basic requirements for your hosting account should be met to get the script to install and run correctly and your web host should be willing to resolve any issues you have.

HostGator uses cpanel, they just use a heavily modified theme so at first glance it doesn't look exactly how you'd expect cpanel to look. If you have HostGator the script will work fine, but you'll have to get in touch with their helpdesk or live chat support when you finish installing because DELAVO triggers some mod_security rules and won't run until they whitelist it for you (DELAVO isn't the only script they're having this problem with.. I've read in their support forum that the latest SMF forum software is triggering a "record number" of mod_security rules.. lol).

I believe the instructions in the PDF walk you through setting everything up with either cpanel or plesk. If you have a different control panel (or even no control panel at all) you should still have no problem installing as long as your host meets the minimum requirements for the script and you know how to set up a mysql databese.

To answer the thread TOPIC question, "NO," Cpanel is not a necessity.

I installed DELAVO via WEBePanel on my server and never hit a bump.
