JV Partner and Affiliate?

Hi,

I have been breaking my head over the following and haven't been able to come up with a good solution that I think must be there for the grabbing.

Case: I have a JV partner who gets 50% of certain sales that are made. The site has other products for which he is not entitled any percentage.

How do I set this up. I have been thinking about using an affiliate link somehow but can't figure out the perfect way how.

The customer needs to go from the Buy Now button to my Delavo site and somewhere in between my JV partner needs to get credited for his part of the sale. He needs to be informed about the sale and see some statistics too.

Any brilliant thoughts?

Hi Theo,

Maybe not a brilliant thought but the way I would handle this is adding a special affiliate program and applying that to the packages/products in addition to the normal one or if it is just one partner, I would use charity commissions instead.

Thanks for the reply. I looked into the charity commission and it looks promising. From what I see I can direct a percentage to another user and that is what I want to do. However I can't find any description of how it works.

Can you enlighten me so I know what I have to set up?

The affiliate link won't work I think. Through an affiliate link a potential customer is directed from one site to another, the site of the merchant. In this case the customer is already on my site and should directly go from the Buy Now button to the Delavo checkout. So there is nowhere to put the affiliate link as it were. I can't send the customer from the Buy Button to the home page. Only alternative would be to have a page in between the Buy button and the Delavo checkout. But that won't qualify for any design prize I am afraid.

Yes, the charity commissions funtion is covered in the Products Pro plugin video - but essentially all you need is to define the percentage or fixed amount and the user ID of the person to get the commission.

Thanks. Do you know I have been searching for ages for that page. I remember seeing it once or twice and then I couldn't find it anymore. You know I even wrote a support ticket to find that page again (no reply sofar?!?). I doesn't seem to be on any menu. So now I can start figuring out what I need besides my F1.18 package.

The Charity function seems to be exactly what I need. The only thing i am wondering about is whether the JV partner/Charity subject can see some kind of statistic concerning the sales of the products for which he qualifies for a percentage.

You are welcome. Yes it will work when you add the user# for notification of commission. Delavo will notifiy user# of the sale..

Hi,

Back again. Since Delavo has a bug in the hosted accounts that won't let you choose a member for the Charity commission, I went back to the original idea of creating a dedicated affiliate group for my JV partner and I got it working.

Create affiliate group (with admin approval) with - in my case - a 50% commission. Invite the JV partner to join that group and approve. Next take the JV Partners affiliate order link and include that in the order link on your website pages like below:

Where 23 is the affiliate ID. Dont forget to include the javascript as below on all your website pages and the first and second order pages of your Delavo installation and the Thank You page:

And Bob's your uncle. Your JV partner gets 50% for each sale of his products and has the affiliate 'Dashboard' where he can monitor sales and commission.

Obviously this will only work when you have a site where you sell individual products and don't use the shopping cart feature, where you don't have controll over the links. In that case you would have to use the Charity Commission option (when the bug on hosted sites is fixed).
