View Full Version : Change password screws up Delavo?

If I change my password on my hosting account where Delavo is installed, how will it affect the way Delavo works?

After changing my hosting account password, I noticed that I did need to update the FTP password for my remote memberships within Delavo (remote because these are on add-on domains within domain where Delavo is installed).

It also appears that now the autoresponders are not being activated within AutoResponse Plus when a user purchases a package that I have set up in Delavo.

Where do I go within Delavo to tell it/link it up with the new password to my hosting account?

Hi Jay,

As far as I'm aware, the only thing that will be affected in Delavo are any memberships/protected areas that use the main installation master password (I don't know autoresponse).

There is nowhere to "go" except your setup of memberships or any plugins that use your domain password.

Changing a password in your hosting account should have no effect at all
on Delavo except for remote memberships. I have changed mine numerous
times with no effect otherwise.

Yes it will have an effect in FTP but that is not related to Delavo but to
your hosting account.

As far as Autoresponse Plus, isn't that an autoresponder script? Then
again, that is affected because of the change in your hosting pw. You
will need to change the PW that you used to FTP the script to your
server.

Hmmmmm...
Is it possible that I'm just assuming this has to do with the password change in my hosting account?
What other reasons would there be for subscriptions via email from Delavo to stop working?

This appears to be related to the same problem...

I just created a new product and package to deliver a physical book. The user is set up to be taken to a membership area where he can download and read an e-book while waiting for the hard copy in the mail. My test user receives the login and password information that is sent from Delavo, but he is unable to login. The user name and password is not accepted and he can’t access the membership page.

The “check/fix” option in the membership setup says everything is OK.

What could be causing this not to work?

(Also, as before, the new user did not get subscribed to the autoresponder via email that was setup in Delavo.)

This is related to your PW change.

Did you change the set up for the membership to reflect the new FTP
log-in codes?

And again, did you change the FTP log-ins for the autoresponder script?

This is beause you originally set these up with FTP codes that have now
changed. But Delavo has no way to know that so you need to
manually update the FTP data in your remote memberships and
autoreponder script.

Yes, I have manually updated the FTP login codes within my memberships in Delavo.

I'm still unclear on where I need to update the new password in my autoresponder script. Would that be in Delavo somewhere, or are you suggesting I need to update it in the AutoResponse Plus platform?

Jay

Then did you change the FTP logins in your FTP program?

It is not in Delavo. I do not use Autoresponder Pro so I am not sure where.

To whom it may concern. I did finally fix this problem.

In Autoresponse Plus, I had to edit the script called arp3-popreader.pl in cgi-bin/arp3 and change the password to the new one.

Thank you Donna & Brian, for your help on this.

One thing I ran across, that might be related, is the way your server/apache might handle password protected directories...

On my server, if I use cpanel to add a password protection, or a user, what happens is the passwd file in that directory, the one delavo writes to, is deleted, and a new file is created somewhere off of the web hosting path...often in a directory off of the root directory of the user.

On my server, this is in /.htpasswds (and the directory in question will be a directory inside that folder).
