Trying to run the set up script gets this:
"An appropriate representation of the requested resource /delavo-install.cgi could not be found on this server"
It is there in the root directory.
I use Host 4 Profit and they don't use cpanel, and there is no "public" folder. It is set up just like a computer file system.
If I use WS-FTP I can see the main area before the www.
I have no other problems.
Could be the .htaccess?

Yes it could be - difficult to say - but try renaming it temporarily and then try to run the install (not forgeting to rename it back again when finished).

Nope, that wasn't it.
I emailed my host support.
They had a bulletin that they tightened security on something to do with PHP and could cause 406 errors. I guess a lot of scripts were being hacked.
I'm bummed. I know this is a great program if I could only get it to work!

Sheesh,
I made a new directory and loaded the files to that, then ran it.
Success.
Go figure?

Kimberly,
I ran into the same "406" problem on the same host. Shoot an email to David at support there and he'll work his magic and lift the "security curtain" for you as he did for me. Once they take care of it at their end, DELAVO runs as expected.

same issue with 'namecheap' hosting. their support aren't responding at the moment. have renamed htaccess and tried but same resulting 406.
is there anything else I can check from my side of things while i'm waiting for host support to respond?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
