When a person joins an affiliate program, on their menu, PROFILE --> PAYMENT OPTIONS is present. Why is this? Can I remove it?
Also, PROFILE --> OTHER SETTINGS allows the affiliate to opt out of Admin's emails? I can understand giving them the ability to opt out of their referrer's emails, but I need to be sure affiliates are always opted into Admin's emails (otherwise, vital information cannot be relayed to the affiliate). How can I change this?
Thanks,
Gene

Hi Gene,
In previous versions of Fantasos it was possible to offer users their own merchant account as well as a couple of other facilities that have to do with the framework for the account holder being able to specify their own payment gates.
I actually find the facility of the opt-out of admin e-mails useful for when I get a signup that is either using the wrong e-mail address or perhaps they no longer have that e-mail address.
When a bounce happens, I just opt the user out of admin e-mails otherwise your system stands the chance of being blacklisted if you keep sending to an ISP repeatedly.

You cannot remove it.
The Member needs the ability to set up Payment gates in
order to receive commissions.
You cannot change the option to opt out either. But just
send a message when they first join your system and tell
them if they opt out, they will not receive valuable info
they need as an affiliate.

Hi Brian, it makes sense from the Admin dashboard, and of course I'd want that option as Admin for the reasons you cite. But I don't want my members to have the option to opt out of receiving emails from me if they are signed up as a member or affiliate etc.

Hi Donna,
I'm confused now. When I pay commissions, doesn't it simply go to the PayPal email address they specify in their profile? What is the need on the Member-level to create a "gateway"?

People don't always type in their Paypal address in their Profile.
And not everybody has Paypal. Although the core has only
manual, Paypal, and clickbank, there are many other Payment
processors available. This will be by plug-in though.
So if someone lives in a country where they can't use Paypal,
they need to be able to set up Payment gates. And in some
cases you may need to manually send their commissions (that
is, write them a check :))
BTW For 100% comissions, the affiliate needs to have at least
one Payment gate set up that corresponds to your Payment gates.
I always tell my 100% commission affiliates which Payment gates
I use and that they will need to choose one of those too.

Keep in mind that if you (or your severs) are in the U.S. you would technically be in violation of the law if you didn't allow your members the option to opt out of receiving emails since even your affiliate emails could be considered "commercial" in nature. Even if you're in another country, or if you think you have some reason why your emails wouldn't need to comply with the CAN-SPAM act.. almost every ISP sees bulk/commercial email without a way to unsubscribe as spam and you will end up on several major blacklists.

Hi Steven,
I agree completely. But Giving them this choice should be in the email itself (not through their control panel). The email would make it clear to them that if they decided to opt-out, their affiliate account would be terminated. It is vital for the company running the affiliate program to communicate with it's affiliates.
